Trillium’s 12 Days of Giving!

‘Tis the season for giving: Giving simple holiday services and giving back to our loyal residents. To celebrate the true meaning of the holidays, one lucky winner from EACH community will WIN a fabulous prize! Starting December 12th, 2011 we’ll be giving ONE raffle ticket per household for each event attended. The more events you attend in our Phoenix Apartments by December 23rd, the more chances you’ll have of winning!

Take a look at what we’ve got in store for YOU during the  12 Days of Giving (check out Resident Central to find the time & place your community will be having these holiday events):

1. Tacky Sweater Day

Ever get an oddly-colored, super-snazzy (ahem, tacky) sweater as a gift from a distant relative? Don your jingle bells, appliqués and sequins that will put the “err” in “merry”!

2. Pet Snack Day

We haven’t forgotten about your pets this season! After all, we know they love the holidays too. There’s nothing like a little snack that would be a perfect present during the holidays. What pet can resist?

3. Holiday Cookies & Milk Day

Tis’ the season for a plate of cookies and a glass of milk. The holidays without them just wouldn’t be the same so we’d like to share some with you. Enjoy milk and cookies with us before we keep them for ourselves!

Holiday Safety

The holidays are a special and joyous time of year. It’s also a time when individuals need to be on alert to the possibility of crime. The hustle and bustle of the holiday season can easily create a distraction for people. During this festive time, pay special attention to the things going on around you. There are a few important actions that can be taken to avoid being victimized by criminals during the holiday season.

  • Be aware that sometimes criminals will pose as couriers delivering gifts to case your home or to commit a crime immediately.
  • Be aware of scams that criminals commit to take advantage of people’s generosity during the holidays. Continue reading

Kitchen Fads to Add to Your Phoenix Apartment

It’s always fun to pick a new room in you Phoenix Apartment, so today, we’re choosing the kitchen! Many new trends are popping up with kitchen decorations. Designs are starting to become more streamline and clean and simple, vs. overcrowded and too colorful. Here are our top three trends we recommend for your Trillium Apartment!

1.     Built in Dining sets: After seeing a fade in the past decade of built in dining sets, they’re back! Breakfast nooks with built in booths big enough to fit the whole family, or even extended countertops with chairs are making a comeback. If you have a higher kitchen counter, it’s easy to turn into a bar for guests, or even a place for the family to catch up after school! Continue reading

Spice Up Your Phoenix Apartment

Everyone loves decorating the living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms of their Phoenix Apartment, but what about the forgotten space; the hallway? The hallway is the entrance and exit to your living space, one that sets a first impression and leaves a last. Let your hallway set the tone for the rest of your Phoenix Apartment and give your guests a hint of what’s to come.

Show off the newest painting you’ve purchased or even a vintage family photo. Use warm and inviting colors, and if you’re feeling adventurous, add some patterned wallpaper for long and narrow hallways. Mirrors are also a great way to add the illusion of space. Windows along your hallways, or in the entry way, can be accentuated using a small table and single chair. Add your favorite flower or book to the table to create a conversation piece. DIY: Outside the Box Decorating

While we’ve all had the opportunity to see some really breath-taking apartments, it is not quite as common to see beautiful apartments that seem to have been inexpensively decorated.  For many, expensive decorating schemes are a luxury that cannot be afforded.  However, there are options! We urge you to think outside the box, and employ some truly creative thinking.

One truly innovative example was showcased in design*sponge, and is a do-it-yourself masterpiece! Instead of spending the big bucks on expensive wallpaper, why not embrace your imaginative side and try something different? To the left, you can see a very clever substitute for wallpaper.  The homeowner decided to save a few bucks and spent several weeks collecting paint swatches from his local hardware store.  While this may seem a bit too far outside of the box for some, the results were amazing!  He was very cautious in the layout, and was sure to lay each swatch perfectly.

While a paint swatch-decorated apartment may not be the right choice for all, it is certainly a friendly reminder of the possibilities each room holds!  Whether you are on a budget or not, it is oftentimes critical to take a step back and think about the bigger picture.  Your apartment is a reflection of yourself, and it is in your power to make it whatever you want it to be!
