Trillium Cave Creek Apartments Team

The Trillium Residential team was up for two AMA Tribute awards at the May 10th gala. Our Cave Creek apartment community was nominated in the Best Team and Community built between 2004-2011 category and TJ Kuhn of Trillium north was in the running for the prestigious Leasing Agent of the year award.

The event featured industry giants from across Arizona honoring the best teams, companies and apartment communities in the state. As the evening unfolded, Trillium Cave Creek was honored as the Best Team and Community.

This year nominations poured in for the Leasing Agent of the Year, and our very own TJ Kuhn was honored as one of five finalists. This year over 30 people were nominated in this category. Although he did not win the award his work and commitment to our residents was recognized at this year’s event.

Trillium President Michelle Sinclair commented on last night’s big event, “It felt great last night to have Trillium recognized with over 1,200 people in the room representing over 25 management companies. Our team is truly the best-of-the-best and I am grateful everyday to work with such an amazing group of people.”

1.    Never leave your pet unattended in the car
In 70-90-degree weather the interior temperature of your car can spike by 19-degrees in just 10 short minutes.  Parking your car in the shade or cracking the windows won’t keep your car any cooler this summer.

2.    Shorter hair means cooler pets
Breeds with long or thick coats can have a hard time keeping cool when temperatures soar. So, be sure to schedule an appointment with your groomer to keep their fur trimmed or shaved. And for pets with thin or no hair, don’t forget to apply sunscreen for afternoons in the sun. Like their human companions, dogs or outdoor cats can sunburn if they are exposed to the sun too long.

3.    Avoid hot surfaces
Asphalt, concrete and other outdoor surfaces can absorb the heat from the sun, and often don’t cool off enough during the early evenings. Avoid walking in these areas with your pet to avoid burning their paws.

4.    Hydration is key
It’s important that your pet has access to fresh water at all times. If you go hiking, jogging or walking don’t forget to bring an extra bottle of water for your pooch.

5.    Early morning and nighttime means cooler temperatures
If your dog lives an active lifestyle, it’s important that you go for a run, hike or walk during cooler times in the day.

Wear Green

Don’t forget and you won’t get pinched. It’s that simple! Oh, and no one believes that you’re wearing green underwear so make sure your green gear is where everyone can see!

Make a Gesture

If you can afford to, mention that you’ll throw in for rent while you’re there.

Help Out

Before every meal, offer your services. Offer to prep some of the food, help set the table or get drinks for others. Afterwards, when you’re all finished eating, don’t offer to help clear the table; just do it. Then, offer to help with the dishes. Don’t forget to help take out the trash as well.

Be Appreciative

Buy your host(s) dinner at least once during the stay. Or cook dinner. It’s the effort that counts here.

Defer to Your Host

Respect bedtime hours, especially if the host(s) are working the next day. Night owls, turn down the TV and headphones are strongly recommended. Your personal disco dance party is best reserved for weekend nights.

Give Them Space

Just go out for an afternoon. Unless you’re only there for two or three days, make yourself scarce for a couple of hours. No one likes to feel over crowded for so long.

Don’t be a Slob

Put your clothes away, hang up your towel and straighten the bed every morning. Don’t abandon your slippers in the hallway, your sunglasses on the kitchen counter or your novel in the den; take your toiletries into the bathroom when you need them and bring them back to your room afterward if you’re sharing a bathroom with your host(s).

Leave No Trace

When you leave, it should look like you were never there, except for the lovely folded up blankets and towels and your thank you note.

Above all, respect the house and its house rules. Remember this isn’t a hotel so don’t treat your friends’ home like one.

I ask because I’ve never been able to commit to a year long resolution. NEVER. I get stoked during the last week of December at the idea of a new years resolution and really get on it the first week of January, but then it just goes away. Just like that. I applaud those of you who are able to stick through it. You’re an inspiration!

For others though, it can be scary to commit a year of yourself to something; especially when it’s easy to say you’ll start the next month or the month after that. Before you know it, it’s December all over again and you’re disappointed you pushed it back this far without realizing it.

If you’re having trouble keeping your new years resolutions like I do, here’s what I’ve learned: Rather than focusing on one resolution for a year, have different resolutions for each month. This way it doesn’t seem so long to achieve whatever you seek to do.

Ever since I’ve applied monthly resolutions to my life, I’m happy to say that I’ve crossed out most of what I wanted to do. I say most because sometimes life just happens and I’m not able to complete them in time. That’s not an excuse though. When I miss a resolution, I make sure to include it with next months’ resolution.

Some resolutions have been tough and others simple, but I can gladly look back at the many things I’ve accomplished that year. When you break your big resolution into mini resolutions, completing it suddenly doesn’t seem so daunting. It’s keeping the promise to myself that has been gratifying and the reason why it works for me.

The stockings hung by the chimney with care have been the icing on the Christmas cake after a mad frenzy of unwrapping gifts.
